Do you have the charm and all the right moves, but are not competition-ready when it comes to speed, strength, and endurance? If so, SpeedDate has the Olympic event for you.
For the rest of the Olympics, SpeedDate is hosting an Olympic-themed online speed dating competition to determine the world’s best online daters. The event will run through Sunday, August 24 at which time we will award gold, silver, and bronze medals to the men and women who match with the most other singles. Even if you don’t take home the gold, you just may find someone you want to start dating.”
To get daters in the Olympic mood, we will add Olympic-themed ice-breaker questions, such as: If you could go on a date with any athlete, who would it be? Which sport has the sexiest athletes? Which two athletes would make the best couple?
Early favorite in the women’s competition is 26-year-old San Jose State University student Francesca Salcido who made news around the world when she had more than 300 dates in 24 hours on SpeedDate.com in February. Does she have what it takes to be named top online dater - or will it be you? Only time will tell.

SpeedDate members are awesome. Not only are you all cool enough to try out a totally different way to meet people, but many of you are actively involved in strengthening the SpeedDate community. Some of you even take the time to write advice for other users. Here’s what one of our female users had to say:
I’m really bummed I didn’t get to see you all at the SpeedDate HQ, but as I sit here with the flu using the site I figured I would write out a few recommendations for you guys to tell the male users of the site so they can maximize the amount of responses. Here it goes:
1. When posting a default picture: Make sure it’s recent (within the last year)
2. Don’t post one where you’re kissing another girl (super turn off)
3. It’s fine to crop a picture but obviously erasing a girl from your pic reads “loser”
4. Try not to have more than one person in the picture unless you can identify yourself in your profile as to which person you are.
5. Profile Info: If you want a woman to respond to your winks or flirts provide them with some information about yourself. Meet to find out is not the best conversation starter.
6. Try to write a personalized message rather than just a wink or a pre-written flirt.

We are really happy to have been in the news several times during the last few weeks (Good Morning America, LA Times, The Huffington Post and more). Publicity is great because it helps spread the word about SpeedDate, so there are more people on the site for our our members to date.
However, more important than generating publicity is doing whatever we can to build the best dating site possible. Everyday we read every email our users send us telling us what they like about SpeedDate and providing great suggestions for features to add.
Based on these suggestions, we recently we made a lot of enhancements to SpeedDate. We improved the look and feel of the site, and added several requested features. Please check out the new and improved SpeedDate and let us know what you think!
