More About MeRetired for two years now, live by myself and getting bored, fat, and lonely. My daughter, who lives in her own place upstairs, came down. looked at me and my house and in a few, well chosen, if ungracious, words explained how dating works in the new millennium. To every explanation I tried to offer she replied "well obviously you don't know or you wouldn't be alone all the time". So here we are. nnI love to read. Mostly I read books about American history. Right now I am reading "No Ordinary Time" by Doris Kearns Goodwin, and have "Land of Promise: An Economic History of the United States" by Michael Lind teed up to go next. When I am not reading about US History, I read mysteries. My favorites are Agatha Christie, Margery Allingham and, my favorite of favorites, Dorothy L. Sayers. I like modern authors as well, but then I have to keep buying new books. With my old favorites, I just have remember that the title seems to bring back a positive memory, and I can read it again just like it was brand new (a little Alzheimer's joke).
