- Hobbies / Interests / ActivitiesDon't have as much spare time as I'd like, have parents 90 and 93, daughter 25, sister/3 nieces and a VERY busy job, but I've always made time for a 'special' lady when I've been able to find them! I enjoy antiquing (owned two antique stores), going to estate sales, some flea markets/garage sales. Got into theater when I lived in NYC for 22 yrs (though I'm from Atlanta). Love live music as well, festivals/street fairs.
Political AffiliationHere's where I'm 'special' as well. I'm more of a libertarian and don't side with either party. I'm a fiscal conservative but social liberal. Less government, lower taxes, non-immigration amnesty puts me with the conservatives, but I also am pro-choice, don't think gay marriage would effect me, etc.
Who I Would Like to MeetSomeone said they're interested in knowing someone deeply and truly. I've never had the pleasure of someone who I felt 'knew' me to that degree. I'd like to think there's a woman out there who's also seeking someone who 'gets' them. I'd like someone who sees my 'warts' as charming eccentricities - and whose 'warts' I similarly find endearing. A high 'emotional intelligence' is what I'm after, someone who is 'self auditing' and is content with who they've become at this stage in life. I'm not after a perfectionist and don't claim to be perfect myself, but I'd like to find someone who's wants/needs/desires/interests complement mine.
Favorite MusicWide variety. Love the 60's/70's (my era), but also swing, doo wop, through the disco period. Not keen on today's artists as a rule. Enjoy symphony, but have been to operas when I lived in NYC. Favorite artists are Steeley Dan, ELO, Eagles, Rod Stewart, Mills Brothers (surprise!).
Favorite TV ShowsReruns of Monk, documentaries, Discovery Channel, Learning Channel, Project Runway, Iron Chef, Food Network, Turner Classic Movies
Favorite MoviesMysteries, Drama, Comedies, some adventure/action. Don't mind a 'chick flick' romantic film even!
Favorite BooksHave begun series of David Balducci mysteries. Also enjoy Malcom Gladwell's books (Blink, The Outliers, etc)...fascinating. I highly recommend 'The Five Languages of Love' - good reading for anyone trying to find the 'right' one. (Physical Touch is my primary language, followed by 'Acts of Love', my secondary language).
Favorite FoodAnything hot! I like Mexican, Chinese and Thai food with the chilis, sushi with wasabi. Authentic Italian is terrific. Less keen on English/German/Hungarian/Ethiopian/Jamaican, etc., but generally willing to try almost anything. Always open for a new taste sensation
Favorite PlacesHad two spectacular vacations to two totally different places. Sedona, AZ was phenomenal in October, Booth Bay Maine was heaven in July. I'd recommend either highly!!!
Friday or Saturday Nights IEverywhere. Occasionally play trivia with a mixed group of friends on Fridays (Wed. are 'guy' trivia). Can be at a movie, dinner out, going to jazz at the High Museum, or just cuddling at home after cooking my signature Thai dish. :)
Life GoalsI've accomplished a good many of them, been to 43 states, lived in Boston, Chicago, Philly, NYC, risen to the VP level with a Fortune 100 firm, owned a B&B, 'been there, done that'. The key thing I'd like to have is that 'final' relationship with a lady who was as infatuated with me as I am with her. All my 'other' aspirations & goals, (overseas travel, glass-blowing/jewelry making, etc.) pale by comparison.
